Counter-Strike: Source is the sequel, or to be more precise, the remake of the original Counter-Strike game.

As in the original, in Counter-Strike: Source the players choose between two teams, the Terrorists, and the Counter-Terrorists. Then the two teams compete in a series of rounds where the winner is determined by the accomplishment of a given mission.

Terrorists have to plant a bomb while the Counter-Terrorists have to defuse it, it's simple as that. You can also win the round by killing all of the players from the opposing team.

Counter-Strike: Source is at its core a team-based game that emphasizes on the objective of the map. No matter what the objective is, you want to do your best to complete it. Defuse the bomb, kill all the opposing forces, or rescue all the hostages. The end-game goal is for one team to have more rounds won than the other team. During a round, once you get killed you stay dead until the next round starts, but this depends on the kind of server you play on.

The gunplay in Counter-Strike: Source has been refined. Shooting while you move will severely decrease your accuracy. Constantly firing from a weapon will also increase the recoil tremendously. Damage done is determined by the part of the body which gets hit, meaning headshots are the most lethal and quick way of disposing of an enemy.
