Eco is an open-world survival game with a fully simulated ecosystem in which you must create your own civilization, develop it without destroying the ecosystem, and then stop a meteor from obliterating your entire planet.

This game has an ecosystem that is full of all kinds of plants and animals that are living their lives day by day. Players need to slowly build their civilization in this place. Harvest and use the resources found all around you in order to advance your own settlements, but keep in mind that every action you make affects the world that surrounds you. While improving your cities and develop your technology in order to stop the meteor you must also be mindful of the ecosystem of the planet. Even if you stop the meteor at the cost of ruining your entire planet, what's the point?

Create entire towns, construct buildings in it, take care of your farms, hunt the local wildlife, slowly expand the infrastructure and implement transportation. Make clothing, build power plants in order to gain access to more electricity, and discover various new technologies. The goods that you have can all the traded for some other useful thing as you barter with other players.

Of course, as a civilization grows in number, it starts to impact its surroundings a lot more. Sometimes the environment suffers a bit too much in order for technology to grow. But, that's why in Eco you can use the data you gain as evidence in order to propose laws that restrict certain destructive activities. Technology can advance without damaging the ecosystem.

Eco features both an online multiplayer mode and a local single player mode, dedicated servers, over 30 various craft tables and over a 100 of different recipes. All kinds of items and building blocks are at your disposal. This is a game in which players need to strike the perfect balance between progression of technology and protection of Nature.

Greetings all Eco citizens! This week’s blog will be presented by Eco dev Todd Glenn who works on game balance and helps with some of the design aspects of Eco. We will be focusing on updates to the technology tree, which is the progression of items in the game that players get through research and technology. We’ve added a ton of content with 9.0 with a few goals in mind: encourage more interaction between the professions, make advances in technological advancement feel more impactful, and expa...
