The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Base Game

This product requires the base game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Steam in order to play. You can not run this product without this game.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim offers a lot in terms of gameplay. You are one of the Dragonborn, and after surviving an execution, you have the chance to truly make a difference in the world, whether that be through saving it, burning it, or something else entirely. But, when you're ready to settle down, when you're ready to do something more in tune with living a regular life, what options are there? Well, Skyrim is about to give you those options via the Hearthfire DLC. For in this DLC, you'll get to make your own home.

Now, Skyrim has allowed you to buy homes in the main game, but this is something different entirely. For here, you're literally making your home. You're putting your hands to work to get land, make the land livable, then buildable, then craft your own home.

You'll do the entire process. Start from the very foundation, then build up your home by getting the resources needed, like lumber and clay, and craft your idea home. Once it's done, you'll get to furnish it the way you want. Make it a place you can truly live in, then enjoy the fruits of your labor.

What's more, you can add certain things to your home so that you're never far away from civilization, and you can even hire people to take care of your home. Still not enough? If you want a family, you can actually adopt kids. Or if you did get married in the game, bring your wife to your new home.

Shirley Curry, better known as the Skyrim Grandma, is set to appear in The Elder Scrolls 6 as an NPC. But before then she'll be available to play in Skyrim via a mod. Shirley will be available as a Skyrim follower as part of Shirley - A Skyrim follower mod, which received a teaser trailer this week and is due out on Nexus early 2020, according to a reddit post from one of its creators. So, what can you expect from Shirley in-game? Unique commentary on locations and situations and unique interact...

Five of the Best is going to be a series! Every Friday lunchtime, UK time, we're going to celebrate a different incidental detail from the world of games. The kind of thing we usually just WASD past, oblivious. But also the kind of thing which adds unforgettable flavour if done right. Potions! We've been drinking them for years. In games I mean! I hope you haven't been knocking them back in real-life, they're bad for you. Imagine drinking something which alters your behaviour - how ridiculous! ...

Oh boy, am I conflicted. Fallout 4 s main plotline requires that I do this thing and as far as things go, it s a pretty major thing and a major thing that you d expect someone with the maternal instinct of my character Halle to crack on with straight away. The trouble is, rather than doing this major thing, for at least an hour now, she, and when I say she , I mean I , have been poking around Sanctuary, scrapping anything that glows yellow so I can salvage enough materials to build a house big e...

The air fills with the screams of the dying and the streets run crimson with the blood of the dead. As arrows whistle past me, I brutally hack through the neck of a Stormcloak soldier, and his head tumbles away like a dropped melon. My wife and companion, her sword coated with gore, sprints off to plunge her blade into the belly of a distant archer. High above, my summoned dragon wheels about in the sky, lands beside me with a crash, and spits a tremendous gout of fire onto several more city g...
