Days Gone is an exhilarating action-adventure zombie survival game set in a vast, immersive world. The developers behind the games such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss and the Syphon Filter series, Bend Studio, made sure that Days Gone PC delivers a captivating story, complex survival mechanics, and a lot of open-world fun.

In a post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest, players must survive the aftermath of a deadly pandemic that transforms ordinary people into bloodthirsty zombie-like monsters. You play as a former soldier turned drifter, Deacon St. John. As a mercenary, you have to drive through these dangerous lands and meet all kinds of characters, both friendly and hostile to you. Any Days Gone review talks about the game’s fantastic gameplay that provides both exploration and combat elements. Days Gone’s enemy AI and survival mechanics are one of the most outstanding elements this game features.

Plot and World

No one knows how or why, but in 2017, a sinister virus swept across the land. Most of Earth’s population transformed into strange creatures called “Freakers.” Soon after, most of the nation collapsed under the pressure of a never-before-seen global catastrophe. When society fell apart, various groups took over the lands and proclaimed themselves rulers.

The Days Gone map is humongous, full of self-made governments. You play as a nomadic type, and many other drifters and bounty hunters scour the lands as you do, looking for work and supplies. Deacon St. John is one of these people, and as an ex-military, he has the skills needed to survive this lawless place. The thing that drives him is the rumor that his wife Sarah, long presumed dead, might still be alive.

Engaging Zombie Survival Gameplay

The Pacific Northwest is US’s region most known for its vast forest areas and rocky mountainous landscapes. Get your Days Gone Steam key and explore this cold and ruthless world while looking for supplies and avoiding Freaker hordes.

To survive, you need to find abandoned houses and similar locations, loot them and find supplies and equipment. Days Gone gameplay mixes exploration and survival elements, so use the crafting system to create items or repair your weapons. Melee weapons, rifles, proximity bombs, and many other things are at your disposal when you need to attack or defend yourself.

The Drifter Bike

You can’t explore the game’s world on foot. Because the Days Gone map is so gigantic, you need a vehicle to get around. That’s where the Drifter Bike comes into play. Like most other things, Deacon can use his resources to upgrade his trusty bike. That way, things like durability and maneuverability will improve, turning the motorcycle into a mighty transportation option. The Drifter Bike also serves as an inventory, as players can keep all their valuable items there.

The Freakers

The most impressive part of Days Gone is its enemies. While you will meet a lot of aggressive humans out in the world, and Days Gone review praises the AI of the Freakers. Speedy, chaotic, and violent, Freakers move as a horde of total destruction. There are multiple types of Freakers, depending on how fast and strong they are.

Freakers don’t act the same during the night as they do during the day. Once night falls, these creatures become faster and more violent. Take care when treading the lands during the dark, as Freakers tend to hunt humans down in groups during nighttime.

Use an open guns blazing attack tactic or deal with your enemies stealthily and silently.

What Critics Say About Days Gone

There’s no shortage of open-world survival zombie games out there. But while many from this genre focus on multiplayer gameplay, Days Gone PC focuses solely on delivering a complex and immersive single-player experience.

A comprehensive and complex crafting system rewards exploration and looting. Combat gameplay is also quite diverse and challenging, which critics and casual gamers enjoy. The most praised element of Days Gone is the Freakers and the shift in behavior when day turns to night. Limited resources, complex enemy types, and a moving storyline made critics and casual gamers fall in love with Days Gone. The Days Gone PC release date is 18 May, 2021, so grab the game today and see why everyone praises this open-world survival game for yourself.
