Alice: Madness Returns has been removed from Steam for a second time and there’s no information as to why.
Alice: Madness Returns disappeared from Steam once before. The game was in limbo for five whole years, and after it returned in February 2022, it’s now gone again. The strange thing, no one knows why this happens constantly. The publishers or the developers don’t have any concrete information regarding the game’s removal. Steam hasn’t made any official statements either. The official statement reads: “at the request of the publisher, Alice: Madness Returns is no longer available for sale on Steam” and that’s it.
American McGee, the creator of the game, thinks this has something to do with Akaneiro: Demon Hunters. Since that game was broken and needed to be removed, it seems like everything made by his former Spicy Horse Games studio also got removed. No further information was released regarding the whole situation since then. The question now is, will the game spend another five years before getting back on Steam? Since the reason behind the removal is still unknown, the situation isn’t looking very good. We will report if any news regarding the whole situation surfaces in the meantime.
