Assassin’s Creed Mirage is bringing stealth back to a franchise that has forgotten all about its distant roots. After many years, the AC franchise decides to give us a new game that follows the formula we all loved back when the first couple of AC titles came out.
Mirage takes place in Bagdad during the 9th Century CE. This game is set only 20 years before the events of Valhalla took place, and it’s 300 years before the events of the first Assassin’s Creed game occurred.
Ubisoft’s taking this AC title back to its roots, focusing more on stealth gameplay. The trailer shows how Basin uses smoke bombs and traps and parkour to outmaneuver and mercilessly chase down his targets. Basim is our protagonist, and the trailer shows his life before he became a Hidden One.
Many thought Mirage would be a DLC for Valhalla. A lot of leaks also made us think it would be. Turns out it’s a completely standalone game. Even better, it seems Mirage was made with stealth in mind. It’s the AC experience we’ve been missing since Ubisoft started pumping out these action RPG AC games.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage arrives in 2023. It’s the next main entry in the franchise which will most likely be followed by Codename Red. Ubisoft also has Codename Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Infinity in its development pipeline, but not much is known about the latter two.
