Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle Gets Price and DLC Details

Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle made a lot of shockwaves when it was announced. For while Blazblue is a fairly popular anime-style fighting game franchise, this one was going far beyond what previous entries had done. For it was going to be mixing its characters with ones from Persona, Under Night In-Birth, and RWBY (the online anime series from Rooster Teeth). And it’s got a lot of people excited, and has even earned a spot in EVO 2018 in August despite not even being out yet.

However, there has been a major controversy with the game, mainly, the DLC content. For the game is set to have a lot of characters, but only 20 of them were going to be in the base game, which is only half. This included having two key members of Team RWBY be DLC, which made fans very angry.

While they’ve backtracked on that latter point (Yang and Blake are now free DLC), there are still some issues about the game itself, like the price of everything. Well, now we have some answers.

BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle

According to Shoryuken, Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle will cost $49.99 (both physical and retail versions). Furthermore, the DLC packs will be six in total, and each cost $4.99. This does live up to the promise from Arc Systems that the DLC packs won’t match the full price of the game. However, $30 bucks to unlock half of the roster? Yeah, that will likely rub people the wrong way.

Now, if you want the game with ALL the DLC, the Digital Deluxe version is for you, and it’ll only cost you $69.99.

On the good news side, Blazblue: Cross Tag Battle will feature an English dub for all of its characters. Which will be a first for the Under Night-In-Birth series. Finally, the first DLC pack of characters will actually be free for all to download. Add that to Yang and Blake and you have five free characters to download into the game.

The game releases on June 5th for areas outside of Japan.
