Call of Duty – More Historical Titles in the Future?

The Call of Duty series is returning to its roots after a long time and will soon continue with a World War II title this year. However, it is a big question as to what future is waiting for the series. Was this a one-time refreshment or part of a more long-term approach?

Activision is, of course, very secretive about the future of Call of Duty, but the publisher’s CEO has emphasized the fact that historical episodes could be made for the series in the future. Game Informer has interviewed Activision Publishing’s CEO Eric Hirshberg earlier, who, although did not reveal anything specific, he did, however, point out that more historical episodes can be expected.

Hirshberg recalled why they had decided to leave World War II at the time: they saw that the players were tired of it and needed something new. He also spoke about the less successful Infinite Warfare title and shared that “it was one future game too many,” which clearly indicates that they regret this approach. We really hope that Call of Duty: WWII will be far better than their previous release, and that they will decide to stick to a more historical focus.
