Call Of Duty: WWII Sells 4.4 Million Copies In November

For the last several years, November has been marked by major releases across many developers and genres. But, the one franchise that made November famous and infamous for big releases was Call of Duty. For several of its recent games released in November, and this year was no different, as Call Of Duty: WWII arrived on November 3rd of this year, and as reports are now noting, the game did very well sales wise its first month. How well exactly you ask?

Well, according to the Wall Street Journal, the game sold a very impressive 4.4 million copies in its first 28 days of release. Which is very impressive, and not surprising the top-selling game of the month. On a side note, November was a very good month for gaming this year, as apparently, when compared to last year, sales were up 9%, and Call of Duty: WWII was a big part of that no doubt.

Why was it a big success though? Well, after years of trying to “up the ante” in terms of spectacle, which included getting soldiers with mechanized exoskeletons, going to war in space, and having Kevin Spacey in the series (oh, the irony), Activision heard the fans saying this was too much and decided to go back to its roots. Mainly, World War II. Sledgehammer themselves noted that they had been working on Call of Duty: WWII for years, working hard to ensure that this was the game players not only asked for, but deserved.

Reviews and fan talk show they did well. Not perfect, there have been issues, but still, well enough. And since launch, the team has both fixed major issues with the game, and have added Ranked Play to the title, which will ensure continued play for some time.
