Dan Romer To Compose Far Cry 5 Score

Ubisoft has announced that award-winning film composer, songwriter and music producer Dan Romer will be composing the score for Far Cry 5, and will also be writing songs for the upcoming sequel. The soundtrack is set for release nearer the time of launch, with the game set for release on February 27th, 2018.

You may recognize Romer from his work on film scores such as Beasts of the Southern Wild and Beasts of No Nation, as well as hits such as “Treat you Better” and “Say Something.” Romer is aiming to create a soundtrack which “transports players into fictional Hope County, Montana, where fanatical doomsday cult Project at Eden’s Gate has taken over,” according to a recent press release.

The score will feature many Americana instruments such as banjos, fiddles and dobros, as Romer looks to fluctuate throughout the game as players explore a vast world to come face-to-face with cultists. Far Cry 5 will also include original hymns that have been penned by Romer, and will be produced by Bobby Chin and performed by the Bobby Chin Nashville Choir. The lyrics will be inspired by the membership of the cult with a rather sinister feeling towards the Resistance.

Far Cry 5 will launch early next year, penned in for October 27th, 2018.
