Dark Souls: Remastered Is Coming To Nintendo Switch

Nintendo dropped many bombshells today, including a basically unannounced Nintendo Direct Mini. In it, many 1st and 3rd party games were announced for the system. But the one that ended the Mini Direct has everyone talking. For the first time ever, From Software is bringing Dark Souls to the Switch via the Remastered version. And it’s coming out on May 25th, which already makes this one of the most anticipated games on the Switch for 2018. Check out the reveal trailer for it below:

Ironically, when the Nintendo Switch was revealed in 2016, Nintendo sent out a list of developers who had already sworn support for the system in one fashion or another. On that list was From Software, who is the creator of the Dark Souls franchise. Yet, there were no announcements from them about what games they may be bringing to the system. Now we know they’ve been working on the remastered version of the original game.

Dark Souls Remastered

“DARK SOULS: REMASTERED delivers the same great gameplay, online mechanics, and environmental storytelling that has inspired countless game players and developers,” said Kasumi Yogi, Associate Brand Manager for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “We are excited to watch the thriving DARK SOULS community grow and support new players experiencing the title for the first time.”

Now, for those thinking that the game is only coming out on the Switch, don’t be so mean. The game will also be coming out on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Both of those versions will feature 4K resolution graphics alongside other “enhancements”. Don’t worry though Switch users, you’ll still get a great version of the game, it just won’t be as “pretty” as the others.

Besides, the fact that a game from From Software is arriving on the Switch is huge. It could even lead to ports of Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III should sales be good enough.
