Diablo III Team Sings Praises Of The Nintendo Switch

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been almost two weeks since the announcement that Diablo III would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Making it the first Blizzard game to come to a Nintendo system since the Nintendo 64 era. And gamers are still going nuts about it, and what it could mean for the Switch at large. But, just as excited apparently are the team behind the game itself, for they apparently really like the Nintendo Switch, so much so that they think it’s the next “evolution” of video games.

This comes from Peter Stillwell in a recent interview with Gamespot, who stated:

“I think this [is] the next evolution. The portability of Switch [and] the ability to play offline with your friends locally between multiple Switch [consoles] is really powerful. We’re excited to be able to travel, [play] this on a plane, get off the plane, [and] upload progress.”

One of the big focuses of the team was to make sure that Diablo III could play at its best in both handheld mode and docked mode. To that end, the only thing that will change if you play it in tablet form is the graphics resolution. And even then, it won’t drop below 720.

“That was a huge focus, to make sure we were giving a responsive, awesome gameplay experience and we’ve managed to achieve that. Part of the technology itself changes [depending on whether] you’re docked or not. That was one of our learning experiences along the way, dealing with how the architecture changes depending on whether you’re docked or mobile. It’s just an optimization effort.”

But Stillwell promised that despite the slight graphical drop, you won’t have to worry about gameplay lag or anything like that. They haven’t experienced it in their tests, and you won’t like either when the game releases later this year.
