The studio that made two excellent games about assassination present Deathloop, a game about perpetual assassination with superpowers and time loops.
What made the Dishonored games so enticing? Well, they let you play as badass assassins with supernatural powers that you could use to take out the bad guys in all sorts of ways. Spectacular level design is another thing that those games had. Now, what if you take all of that and throw Groundhog Day into the mix. The day constantly keeps resetting, and you and another person are killing each other over and over again.
Oh, and you have extraordinary abilities again. That’s pretty much the gist of Deathloop. Two people are trapped in a place where time keeps resetting. Their objective? To kill each other by using guns, explosives, sharp objects, and the list goes on. The E3 trailer didn’t show any gameplay, but it certainly hyped us up for another Arkane Lyon project.
The YouTube video describes the game like this:
“DEATHLOOP” transports players to the lawless island of Blackreef in an eternal struggle between two extraordinary assassins. Explore stunning environments and meticulously designed levels in an immersive gameplay experience that lets you approach every situation any way you like. Hunt down targets all over the island in an effort to put an end to the cycle once and for all, and remember, if at first you don’t succeed… die, die again.
An interesting premise, but we’re dying to know more. Is it a single-player game? Or perhaps a multiplayer experience focused on 1v1 duels. Not a lot of information is available at the moment, so most of us can just speculate at this point.
We are on the hunt for any information regarding Deathloop, so stay tuned for more news!
