Dragon Ball FighterZ Gets Epic Gameplay Showing

At E3 2017, Microsoft shocked the world when it presented a trailer for a brand new Dragon Ball game. At first, the reaction was lukewarm, “oh great, another Dragon Ball title“, but as the trailer went on, and people saw just how much like the anime it was, their impressions instantly changed, and with it came a major buildup of hype for it. So much so that every new trailer, character reveal, or demo has gotten a lot of attention from fans. They want to see more of Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Well, during a Japanese show, Dragon Ball FighterZ was shown off in surprising depth, actually depicting a full 3-on-3 battle. In this case, it was Frieza, Hit, and Goku Black, against Super Saiyan Goku, Gotenks, and Beerus. What if proved was that this game is going to be a very deep fighting title, all the while having the little nuances that will make it stand out from other fighting games in the genre.

For example, you will be able to swap out characters on the fly, as we see both sides changing things up in order to try and get the upper hand. But, we also see that like in Marvel Vs. Capcom, you can summon your allies for either quick strikes, or for combination attacks of sorts. Which will no doubt be used in many strategies from players.

Yet, what might be the most surprising is that the characters not only interact with each other in the intro section but depending on how the battle ends, a full-on cutscene will end the fight. In the case of the video above, Goku blasts Frieze on the planet Namek in a way that very much resembles their battle in the anime. It makes you wonder what other interesting “Dramatic Finish” scenes we’ll have in the final game when Dragon Ball FighterZ released January 26th in the US and UK.
