EA Servers Go Down, Affect Games Like Battlefront II and Battlefield I

In modern gaming, there are innumerous titles that have online functionality. Sometimes, it’s just so that updates can be rendered, but other times, it’s a key part of the game via multiplayer. This especially goes for the shooter genre, both first and third-person. Thus, when something goes wrong with the servers that help these games go into said modes, things tend to get a bit dicey. EA found this out yesterday when several of their servers suddenly went offline, affecting players across many of their titles, including Battlefield 1, FIFA 18, and Star Wars Battlefront II.

This widespread server issue affected the United States and a large section of Europe. The Origin services wouldn’t allow people to log in at all, and other issues made the games online modes impossible to play. It was truly something to frown at. Thankfully, EA did work out the problem, and the servers are back on today, for the most part.

“The login issues affecting Origin have now been resolved. Thank you for your patience, if you still require assistance please let us know.” they said in a statement.

Now, there are still some people who are having issues, but as stated above, if you are one of them, be sure to contact EA to see if they can help you figure out what’s going on.

EA has been in quite the crossfire recently because of the choices they’ve made for their games. Battlefront II faced major controversy because of its loot box system, Need For Speed Payback had a brutal progression system that had to be dialed back, FIFA 18 had issues all its own, and players are fearing what’s going to come up in UFC 3. In fact, the only good thing seems to have been the Battlefield 1 DLC, which and critics liked.

So yeah, this server issue definitely wasn’t they needed right now to basically end the year. And 2018 no doubt will be rough as all eyes will be on them to see what “mistakes” they make.

And this, dear hearts is why I prefer offline video gaming.
