ESPN, Disney And ABC Will Broadcast The Overwatch League

What is your next move when you create something that is popular with the kids? Well, you try to make it last, of course. By now, everyone has heard about Overwatch at least once in their life, as Blizzard’s multiplayer shooter gathered a lot of adoring fans. Being the gigantic company that Blizzard is, they found a way to promote their Overwatch League in quite a big way, and that is by making a multi-year broadcast deal. You can now watch the playoffs on the ESPN network, ESPN2, Disney XD, and ABC.

It was announced on Wednesday that this multi-year broadcast deal includes the Overwatch League playoffs, which means that this esports event is going to get a lot of coverage. Blizzard is really doing all they can to attract as much attention as possible to the Overwatch League. John Lasker, the ESPN Vice President of Digital Media Programming, said:

We’ve had an interest and have been watching pretty closely how the first year of the Overwatch League has been progressing, and we’re really excited to be a part of this. Clearly, by the way, we’re going to be covering it starting with the playoffs and the finals this year certainly speaks volumes to our excitement and our enthusiasm overall for esports moving forward.”

We are happy to see that Blizzard is investing so much into the Overwatch esports scene, as its one of the rare shooters today that could become a cult classic.
