EVE Online ‘Million Dollar Battle’ Falls Short of Expectations

Eve Online has been in existence for many years now, with the MMORPG recently hosting its largest battle so far. However, it didn’t exactly go to plan, as thousands of players complained that the game didn’t operate in the correct manner when required.

As you may know, players in Eve have access to thousands of different star systems, which can be used to raid ships, trade, mine resources and other acts to keep entertained with. Players have a tendency to spend a lot of time with the game, so much so that the cost of this battle was estimated at around $10,000, as the ships lost in battle would have been obtained from so many game hours.

As big of a figure this sounds, it actually falls way, way short of the expected figure, with the battle originally being dubbed as the “million dollar battle.” This was reliant on many players committing more expensive ships, which didn’t happen. This is dwarfed by the $330,000 figure from the last major battle that took place in the game.

Over 6,000 pilots took part in the battle over the Keepstar at sector 9-4, which was watched by over 10,000 viewers on Twitch. Still, it is being considered by many as a flop, especially when it falls so short of expectations, compared to past events at least.
