The Gothic Remake playable teaser was neat but the want the finished game to be more like the original, dark and gritty.
PC Gamer reported something interesting. We all know of the Gothic Remake playable demo yes? We do, and it was alright. Nothing special. Nothing that was as unusual and unrelenting as the original Gothic. The fans noticed this too, and they want things to be different when this remake inevitably launches. Make the world feel hostile. The inhabitants shouldn’t care about you since, in fact, you are a nobody. A nobody that needs to face a lot of challenges and dangers in the beginning. That doesn’t happen in the Gothic Remake, but it happened in the original.
This game starts off like some action movie from the forgotten ’90s. Chaos, fire, a lot of nonsense that flashes in front of your eyes. Not something that Gothic is known for. The hero is also a sarcastic idiot, totally unlikable and totally bland. The fighting system is sluggish, the music can’t even begin to compare to the music of the original, and so on.
