Forza Horizon Team Working On An RPG Title?

In video games, as in life, routine and “safe bets” are something many crave. For example, if a video game franchise is doing really well, and selling millions, why wouldn’t you make more of them? But, there are times when you just want to break the mold, when you desire to be different, and spread your wings as it were and try to do something fresh. That’s what the team at Playground Games are apparently doing, for the Forza Horizon developers are expanding their ranks to build a new game that doesn’t involve racing.

What’s more, Gameindustry.biz is reporting that the game is now being confirmed as an “open-world action RPG”. Which adds even more intrigue to the situation. But that’s still not the least of it, for Playground Games is hiring some AAA talent to come to their studio, all in the name of making this project, and expanding what Playground Games is. For Playground Games CEO Gavin Raebur said:

“The combination of new blood and experienced Playground team members is already showing huge promise and I’m excited to see this talented group contribute to Playground’s continued success.”

Success indeed, for Forza Horizon 3 and their previous racing titles prove the quality that Playground Games can make. But this, this is a whole new level. They even went and bought a second studio for their new team, a building that can house up to 200 members. That’s a lot of people on one project, which could suggest just how grand scale the project is.

Naturally, we can only speculate on it right now, but the possibilities are intriguing. Some of the talent they’ve recruited have worked on games like Battlefront 2, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and more.

Hopefully, we’ll get some details on this very secret project soon.
