Fractured Lands is basically a Mad Max battle royal game, so you go figure out if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. It is arriving on Steam’s Early Access fairly soon for $19.99, so if you’re looking for a battle royal with crazy vehicle battles, you are going to get one.
How would you feel about an actual Mad Max battle royal game? If it was made by a development studio that knew what they were doing, it would be an immensely enjoyable title. Fractured Lands looks like it could be somewhat of a game that we described, but it looks rather, well, dull. And we don’t mean the gameplay or the combat or anything like that, it’s just that the graphics which were shown in the trailer look so plain and boring. They need to bring some colors into this game as soon as possible.
As far as the gameplay is concerned, Fractured Lands doesn’t look that bad. It does look a bit like PUBG with a heavy Mad Max vibe, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing at all. Having a battle royal game where vehicles play a very important role could be fun, or it could be utterly frustrating, but we will have to wait until July 31st for the game to enter Early Access to see what’s it going to be.
It seems like the stream of battle royal games won’t be ending in the next 10 years from what we’re seeing, but maybe if all of them end up being utter failures the video game industry will finally bring something new to the table.
