Is Dragon Age 4 going to happen?

Since BioWare seems to concentrate all of its efforts on Anthem, it may not be a big surprise that Dragon Age 4 is not moving forward as much. Previous Creative Director of the developing studio, Mike Laidlaw, says that very few people are working on the Dragon Age sequel.

Mike Laidlaw left BioWare last October and has confirmed at the current GDC conference that the Dragon Age 4 team has been reduced to the smallest possible size. In January this year, BioWare has said that they are working hard on the game, which can ultimately be true, but whether it’s 5 people working hard or a 100, makes a big difference.

The case, as is known, is very complex. With the Mass Effect: Andromeda issues, then the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Lootbox scandals and Destiny 2 reactions, Electronic Arts decided to change around Anthem a bit. Furthermore, to avoid collision with the upcoming Battlefield title, the release of the game was delayed to the following year. Some think that this project determines the fate of BioWare, and that could be said for Dragon Age 4 as well.

If Anthem turns out to be a success, the dev team will probably be forced to continue working on it, but if it fails, they might just end up getting disbanded. And Dragon Age 4 is the one waiting in the background, with its birth not even being guaranteed.
