Jiren “Confirmed” For Dragon Ball FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ was one of many big fighting game successes in 2018, and one of the biggest reasons wasn’t just that it had a big roster, but that it embraced the anime style of Dragon Ball. The visuals looked straight out of the TV series that helped make it popular in the West, and around the world. The other big reason was the DLC, which brought even more fighters to the mix. And now, the first “confirmation” of the first season 2 addition has come.

This tease comes from an issue of Shonen Jump, and it shows Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Goku going up against Jiren from Dragon Ball Super. Jiren has been teased on multiple occasions, but this seems to confirm it in the biggest way possible. After all, Dragon Ball is linked to Shonen Jump.

As for who Jiren is, he was one of the last contestants in the Tournament Of Power storyline, the one who helped push Goku to his next level, Ultra Instinct. Here’s a brief bio of him:

“Jiren is a man who devotes everything to justice and never acts for selfish reasons; he lives to protect Universe 11, even stating that he would leave the tournament while it was happening in order to return there if any problem arose in the 48 minutes of the tournament. When Top tells Jiren to participate in the Tournament of Power, he initially refuses to enter – as while it is his duty to protect Universe 11, he will not cause the destruction of other universes to save his own. He will never kill any villains he defeats and instead captures them. Even more, he shows disgust towards those who actively kill and do not follow justice.

The Shonen Jump tease also states that the full reveal of Jiren in Dragon Ball FighterZ will come via the “World Championship”.
