Kingdom Come: Deliverance To Be Used As Teaching Tool At European University

There’s a bad stigma that’s been put on video games over the years. Mainly that they’re just “games”, and thus they can’t do anything “productive” outside of distracting gamers and “rotting their brains”. But, over the years, many developers have proven that stigma wrong. In fact, video games are a very common teaching tool in some regards. Yet, it’s mainly for young children, so the stigma lives on for adults. Or does it? For a major college has revealed that they’re going to use Kingdom Come: Deliverance to help teach medieval history.

No, we’re not kidding you here. Czech University, which is the oldest and largest university in Europe, is going to use Kingdom Come: Deliverance to teach medieval history. This was announced by one of the team at Warhorse Studios, the team behind the game. He said on Twitter:

“Czech university is gonna use our game in a course teaching medieval history. They are “very excited” about the game and our approach. Seems that nobody told them what all those self appointed tumblr experts who spent MINUTES researching Czech history on Google think about it”

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Now, before you think, “Well that’s random!”, it’s honestly not. The team at Warhorse was trying to make a good video game with Kingdom Come, but, they also spent a lot of time trying to recreate what life was like in that era, even including ruling parties and their bloodlines. Apparently, that got the attention of Czech University. And now the rest…is history…I’ll move on.

If you’re curious about what the dev meant about the “self-appointed Tumblr experts” line in the tweet meant. The game came “under fire” upon release by those who “studied” history, and questioned just how accurate the game was. Well, they’ve just been shown up, because if Czech University doesn’t see a problem with the game’s version of history? It probably means it’s accurate.
