Launch Version Of Stadia Lacks A Lot Of Features

Seems like Google’s Stadia is being released way before time, as the launch is coming without many features.

Google wants a part of the gaming pie

Is anyone surprised that a recently announced gaming streaming platform is coming without some basic features? Not, at least I’m not. It is pretty obvious that Google wants a big part of the “gaming” pie that’s been picking up more and more steam over the years. As we all know, video games as a form of entertainment have been gaining an incredible amount of attention. The gaming phenomenon known as Fortnite helped with that. Since, you know, all the parents in the world now have to worry about their child spending too much time in front of their PC/console.

A lack of features at launch is worrying

But, Google doesn’t have a console or a gaming system to compete in the video games arms race. Well, that’s where Stadia comes along. A streaming gaming service that anyone can use. No need for a powerful PC or an expensive console. You just use your fast internet to play all these games. Unfortunately, features like Family Sharing, Achievements, the Buddy System, and playing in 4K/HDR won’t be available at launch, as was said in this Reddit AMA.

Most of these features are coming “some time” after Stadia launches or next year. We don’t even know which free games Stadia Pro subscribers are getting. Do I smell a rushed service here? Oh yes, I do, and now most of us are certain. Google Stadia won’t have a very long lifespan. I give it a year or two before it completely dies. Streaming gaming services need to come out jampacked and ready to even try to compete with a modest PC rig or a modern-day gaming console. I talked about my worries with Stadia before when it was said that it won’t even support cross-play with PC Destiny 2 players.

What do you think, will Google Stadia prosper as a new way to play games? Or will it cave under its own rushed release?
