Loot Crates Are Coming to Ghost Recon Wildlands

Ubisoft has revealed that the tactical open-world shooter Ghost Recon Wildlands will be introducing loot crates in the latest update, which is scheduled to arrive before the end of this month.

These crates, which are known as Battle Crates, are described as something that will bring players “an additional and accessible way to complete your cosmetic customization experience, for both the Campaign and Ghost War modes.” The publisher continued to state that the new system system “is fair in terms of the items given to players, while also ensuring that they have zero impact on gameplay and player’s progression.”

Given all the controversy that we have seen in blockbuster titles such as Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Destiny 2 in terms of microtransactions, Ubisoft are going to be expecting some form of backlash from fans with such an implementation.

Three items will be included in the Wildlands’ loot crates, which will come in the forms of Spec Ops Crates and Ghost War Crates, with the former catering for single-player and co-op campaigns, whilst the latter offers items for the Ghost War PvP mode.

Crates are available for purchase for 400 Store Credits, and players will be granted one of each crate when the update arrives before the end of January.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
