Minecraft Selling Art From Game For Charity

When you look back at the last 10 years or so, certain games stand out from the pack. Some are because of sales, some are because of global acclaim, some were major surprises, and then, there’s some that were all three in one. Mainly, Minecraft. It’s hard to believe, but the game came out in 2009! Yet, the simple and effective title wowed the hearts of millions, so much so that with every single new console release came a new version of Minecraft, and people continue to build in it, and make it special.

But, let it not be said that developer Mojang isn’t humble, far from it, they not only accept their good fortune, they’re also taking steps to pay it forward. You see, Mojang compiled a book of art from the game recently called Minecraft: Mobestiary. And then, they put prints of the art from the book into a gallery of sorts to show it off, and it was a big success, as people bought the prints. But now, they’re asking you to consider buying them.

Minecraft

Why? Well, because all proceeds from the buying of these prints, made by artist Anton Stenvall, will be going to the charity Mojang set up called Block By Block. This charity takes the money and gives it to developing countries all over the world. The hope is that with the money they’ll be able to build up their own living areas, not unlike what players do in Minecraft.

There are 24 different art prints that you can buy, each are 15.75×15.75, so these are not small pics, these are ones you’d hang up on your wall. The price is high, it’s $250 (and can be shipped worldwide), but in the end, you’d be helping people all over the world, and get a cool piece of art for yourself. That seems to balance out.
