Nielsen Reveals Most Anticipated Holiday Gaming Titles

When it comes to gaming as in terms of timing, the holiday season is almost always a time when games like to release. After all, between Black Friday around Thanksgiving and the buildup for Christmas, there’s a lot of potential sales. As such, the industry likes to “hedge their bets” by placing a lot of big name titles out in the final months of the year, usually September through December so that if they can get their sales, they will. Nielsen has comprised a list of the most anticipated holiday games.

For games that haven’t released, or are about to release, Call of Duty Black Ops 4
takes the top spot according to Nielsen. However, right behind that is Super Smash Bros Ultimate, which was interestingly tied with recent release Super Mario Party. Battlefield V and Fallout 76 also rated pretty highly, which will please the developers no doubt. After that comes the dual Pokemon titles Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.

In terms of the Nintendo titles, which all had major scores, Nielsen has this to say:

Nintendo is not holding back on platform exclusives with four highly anticipated games coming out this season. Mario is leading the charge, with gamers ecstatic for the chance to both fight and party with the Italian plumber for the first time on Switch. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (98) grows the fighting franchise by adding even more characters to an already abundant roster, and Super Mario Party (98) brings the classic board game design to Switch, while enhancing it with new features like a screen sharing mode and online play. This holiday season also presents the first Pokemon games that are exclusive to Switch. Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! (88) and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee! (86) look to combine components from previous games in the series with elements of the popular mobile game Pokemon GO.

Anyway you look at it though, it’s clear that the holiday season is going to be huge.
