NieR: Automata Game of the YoRHa Edition Announced

2017 was a great year for games, but not just for the “known” titles like Legend of Zelda, Mario, and even Persona. But also, for games that were either coming back to life, or making their lives known to people on a grander scale. Such as NieR: Automata. This was technically a sequel to a game made a long time ago, not that many knew this. Made by Platinum Games (the team behind Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, and more), this unique RPG wowed many, and it’s still impressing people today.

Case in point, the game has sold over 3.5 million copies. Not bad for a series that hasn’t been around in a long time. And fans are very eager for a sequel. While this technically has been announced, the director of the game Yoko Taro, made a different kind of announcement on Twitter:

“Square Enix has asked me for a comment to mark the announcement of the NieR: Automata Game of the YoRHA Edition,” he started. “Now that you mention it, NieR: Automata was first released on the 23rd of February 2017 in Japan, 7th of March 2017 in America and on the 10th of March 2017 in Europe. I have noticed something bizarre and fascinating about these numbers.

Confused? Oh, he’s just getting started:

“If you write these dates out in long-form as 20170223, 20170307 and 20170310, then add all three numbers together, you get 60510840. If you take that total, split the digits in two down the middle, making 6051 and 0840, and then subtract the second number from the first…unbelievably you get 5211!!” That’s right, a number completely devoid of all meaning! Just like life really, isn’t it? Over and out.”

More than likely, this sequence of numbers is meant to mean something for the new version of the game. But what it is…well you’d have to ask him. However, the Game of the YoRHA Edition is indeed real, and it’s coming out on February 26th, 2019.
