PlanetSide Arena Getting A Closed Beta Instead A Full Launch

PlanetSide Arena was supposed to launch on January 29th, but instead, we’re getting a closed beta on January 30th.

Maybe Daybreak Games figured out that bringing a battle royale game that’s not in its best condition isn’t the best idea right now. Fortnite is as big as it can get, PUBG is actually improving a lot and there’s even a free-to-play version of it coming, and various other titles with battle royale elements are in the making.

What other reason could there be for them to push back the full release of the game and instead offer a closed beta a day after the initial full release was planned? Maybe they really just want more time to test some things, or maybe their game wasn’t as polished as it could be.

As the PlanetSide games are famous for offering absurdly huge PvP battles, PlanetSide Arena won’t be any different. The game plans to have a 150-player battle royale mode at launch, and there will also be a 250v250 mode as well.

Some crucial feature enhancements and core system improvements need to be made before they launched the game. At least that’s what they said in their latest blog post. Those of you that pre-ordered the game will get access to the closed beta that’s starting on January 30th.

It’s completely understandable that they want to release their game in a fully functional state. We all saw how gamers react when you release a game that’s half-broken, as Bethesda felt that with Fallout 76.
