Are you really that surprised that you’re reading a headline that says that you can play football with tanks? If you are, then you haven’t been a gamer for very long, as these kinds of crazy crossovers happen all the time. In World of Tanks your usual goal is to use your heavy vehicles to annihilate your enemies, but in this mode, things are a bit different. Even though the gameplay is way slower in this mode than it is in Rocket League, you can still use your tanks to make the ball move in the direction of your opponent’s goal. You can shoot the ball, yes.
The official description of this World of Tanks event is this:
We all know the old adage: “It’s not the winning that counts, it’s the taking part.” Well, that’s just a load of rubbish… you want to prove your worth, be victorious and bask in your own glory. Well this summer, with our soccer mode, it’s the perfect time to do battle on the pitch.
For those of with a competitive streak, we’ve got an array of tournaments (both to take part in solo and as a team) for you to participate in to show you’re made of the right stuff. The best benefit: you could be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes (some of which are real rarities).
As you can expect, you can earn all manner of in-game items if you participate in this Rocket League-themed event, and especially if you win. But, for those of you that want to be the verst best, there’s a very special award in store. The that gets the first place on any World of Tanks leaderboard will get a soccer ball that was signed by the famous Gianluigi “Gigi” Buffon Italian player, which is definitely a really unique reward.
