Players Using Rubber Bands To Cheat Battlefront II

Oh Star Wars Battlefront II, will there be no end to the oddities you bring us? Likely not, and we’re honestly ok with that. So, what do we talk about today, right? Well, once again, it’s all about the in-game money system. Since it was shut down by EA right before launch (due to all the backlash from players and pressure from above with Disney), that means that all purchases in the game have to come through the games natural currency, credits. But, that can be hard to get a times, so, what’s a player to do? Easy, user rubber bands.

No, we’re not joking. You see, in multiplayer matches, the game can tell if you’re not moving or doing anything, so thus, you need to stay active to get the credits. Therefore, players have figured out a unique rubber band configuration for their controllers that will keep them active, and thus get credits. Again, we’re not joking, here’s the Reddit thread and the controller picture to prove it.

Cheating? Yeah, yeah it is. But you have to admit, that’s a creative way of cheating. And it’s very hard to tell that they are cheating, they could just be trying very hard to stay alive. Now, there’s no doubt that Blizzard will eventually figure this out, and when they do, they’ll create a patch to make sure players that don’t do certain things in multiplayer matches don’t get the credits for doing the match. But, until then…let there be rubber bands!

The real question here is what EA is going to do to both balance the credits giving in order to prevent things like this. The progression system in the game is still very hard, and things must change in order to save the sanctity of the game (and the sanity of the players).

Oh, and did we mention that someone made a robot to do the same thing as the rubber bands? Yeah, someone did that.

how shit does a game have to be that youd rather tie a rubber band to your controller and do something else than actually play the game that you spent $60 on.
