Is anyone actually still using Windows XP or Windows Vista? XP was a good OS and all, but it’s so outdated these days. Still, there are still people out there that use it. Some just can’t let go and upgrade to new and better things. No one is using Windows Vista, that’s for sure, as that was an OS that was so badly put together that we never saw one person say something nice about it. Which is actually quite sad when you think about it.

That’s why you can’t actually blame Grinding Gear Games when they announced that they would be dropping support for these operating systems. It’s just a waste of resources and time that can be better spent elsewhere.

PoE is also a game that can run fairly well even on low end computers. That’s why support for DirectX 9 is also getting dropped. Players preffered DirectX 9 because it allowed you to disable shadows and get better performance out of the game. But, now the version of the game with DirectX 11 renders shadows a lot quicker, making it perform better than the version with DirectX 9 and shadows turned off.

By making all these changes the devs said that they would simplify the code of PoE now that they won’t have to maintain support for two different versions of DirectX, which will result in a faster game and more enjoyable experience.

If you aren’t familiar with it, Path of Exile is an ARPG, similar to titles like Diablo 3 and Grim Dawn, but it’s free-to-play. The game is absolutely jampacked with content for you to experience, even though the character sutomization and skill customization may be overwhelming at first.
