Power Rangers Legacy Wars Street Fighter Showdown Has Released

One of the beautiful things about being a fan of just about anything in the world today is that in potential, anything can be crossed over. Movies to TV to comic books to video games, if the people behind the scenes feel something should happen, it usually will. Hence the reason why the Power Rangers Legacy Wars Street Fighter Showdown is something that is a fanboy’s dream. Bringing the classic Power Rangers franchise and merging it with the beloving fighting game series.

If you don’t know, Power Rangers Legacy Wars is a mobile title where you’ll build a team of Rangers from across the series history to take on evil. The game has done very well during its run, and now, it’s brought Street Fighter into the mix. But not just in the game via characters like M. Bison, Ryu, and Chun-Li, but the team at Bat In The Sun was given permission by Hasbro and Capcom to make a full-on short film detailing the events that happened in the “crossover”. You can watch it here.

The short film features legendary Ranger Tommy Oliver, along with the Samurai Yellow Ranger going to Ryu and Chun-Li for help, as M.Bison has teamed with Rita Repulsa to corrupt several other Power Rangers. And Ryu himself gets to become a Power Ranger via the Ryu Ranger form. A form that is now in Power Rangers Legacy Wars:

“We’re excited to morph a key Street Fighter like Ryu into a mighty Ranger and to introduce him through an exciting new piece of video content as we continue to find innovative ways for gamers to enjoy Power Rangers: Legacy Wars,” said Daniel Engelhardt, Senior Vice President of Interactive Ventures & Games at Lionsgate. “We’re also very proud to be working with great companies such as G Fuel and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. on this unique collaboration that brings together fun gameplay, original storytelling, and direct fan engagement.”
