Rainbow Six Siege’s Fight Against Hackers Continues

No one likes a cheater, there’s a reason we have competitive games, and that’s to battle each other and see who has more skill. You invalidate that point when you cheat, because you don’t use your own skills to beat your enemies. Especially in a tactical shooter like Rainbow Six Siege, cheating really defeats the purpose of the game, which is all about planning and thinking on the move. That’s why Ubisoft constantly battles hackers, and now we were shown the plans for their next step in fighting them. They even released a hotfix today to take care of a hack that got discovered recently. Their processes when it comes to releasing fixes for hacks got improved as well.

Now, they also have a plan for dealing with people that were boosted by cheaters in Rainbow Six Siege. As you can guess, bans will be distributed to the ones that played with hackers in order to win all the time. On their official post, they said this:

Beginning the week of July 16th, we will initiate the first ban wave for players that have been boosted by cheaters. Based on our data, this will impact approximately 600 accounts globally. As a reminder, being boosted by cheaters is a bannable offense under the Code of Conduct, found here.

It’s good to see that Ubisoft is taking hacking head on, and dealing with all types of these problems directly. Shooters like these need to stay clean in order to maintain a healthy player base.
