Rocket League Devs Talk What Is Their Focus In 2018

Rocket League truly is the little game that could. The game launched in 2015, boomed in 2016 in many ways, and then, in 2017, kept the momentum up to an absolutely ridiculous pace. The game not only helped push cross-play into a new field, not only did it have many success esports tournaments, with more to come, it also brought the game to the Nintendo Switch after much fan demand, as well as bring in many new cars, decals, events, and upgrades that fans have been asking for.

So, with all of that success, you have to wonder, what does Psyonix want to bring to Rocket League in 2018? Well, in a blog post, they outlined what they want to do. And one of the biggest things is refining the game and fix key problems.

“The first issue is game server performance. We see feedback on this topic regularly and take it very seriously. “

They note that while it’s true they can’t fix everything involved with game performance, as internet providers do have to carry some of the weight on it, they are looking into new ways to make sure it can be improved.

Their second key focus? The Xbox One version of the game. It’s not living up to Psyonix’s standards, and it’s affecting gamers, and they want to fix that:

“We don’t want Xbox players to feel ignored when they report issues, and we’ve rolled out fixes for stability and stuttering in our last two major patches. But we know some of you are still experiencing  performance problems and we’re actively working to fix them.”

Of course, these focuses are just the technical side of things, Psyonix has big plans for new content and modes in 2018. The in-game tournament is one thing to look forward to, and, they’re hoping to fully launch cross-play in 2018, including the Switch to the group of participating systems.

So yeah, 2017 was good for Rocket League, but 2018 may be just as good, if not better.
