Could Spyro The Dragon Make a Return?

Following the success of the return of Crash Bandicoot, it appears as if Vicarious Visions are leaving the door open for more remakes, with many signs pointing to the resurrection of everybody’s favorite purple dragon in Spyro.

Even Activision were surprised by the success of Crash Bandicoot’s return, particularly since the IP has more or less been stagnant for almost a decade. The last Crash title in the main series came back in 2008, with the release of Mind Over Mutant. Both Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon flew the flag for the PlayStation franchise, playing a major role in the company’s popularity in the gaming industry in this era.

Vicarious Visions has stated that Activision only have to ask if they want a Spyro the Dragon remake in a similar fashion to Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy. This is on the back of a statement from Activision boss Eric Hirshberg recently, who stated: “We knew that there was a passionate audience out there for Crash. Full disclosure myself among them, but we had no idea – it’s hard to tell whether that’s a vocal minority or whether that’s a real mass audience until you put something out there. We think we have other great IP in our portfolio that we’re considering of course… I think you can be confident that there will be more activity like this in the future with more great IP.”
