Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s World Of Light Detailed More

In just a few days time, the last major video game release of the year that is 2018 will arrive. Super Smash Bros Ultimate will come to the Nintendo Switch. And with it, it’ll bring a 74 character roster, over 300 stages to battle on, loads of combat modes for you to be battling in, and of course, an Adventure Mode, World of Light. But this mode is arguably one of the most anticipated parts of Ultimate because of its now legendary intro video, but was that video all we’ll see?

This was asked because World of Light was no doubt inspired by Super Smash Bros Brawl’s Adventure Mode called Subspace Emissary, which had a lot of cutscenes showing the characters together. So, will World of Light have that too? JC Rodrigo of the Nintendo Treehouse talked about this with GameInformer:

“You will see some [cutscenes], but it’s really more on focusing on the loot grind, and that flow of getting Spirits. It’s more about the matches and the way of collecting stuff you have an affinity for – a certain IP or franchise you love and you’re just like, ‘I really need this!’ It’s more about that than anything else, but you may see a couple here and there.”

For those who don’t know, “Spirits” are the newest addition to the game in terms of “items”. The spirits are the souls of video game characters across the gaming universe (that Nintendo could get rights to), and they’ll give your characters boosts in battle if you equip them.

Rodrigo was also sure to mention that all the surprises and DLC characters in Super Smash Bros Ultimate are another reason to get the title:

“Mr. Sakurai and his team and everyone that works on the game – we love surprises. Just like Piranha Plant, we believe the DLC is going to be a must-have. For me, as a fan… oh man, I would not miss these for the world.”

The game releases on December 7th.
