Seems like Torchlight Frontiers needs to grind a bit more before it’s ready to release, as the 2019 release is getting pushed back.
The delayed release date
The more I read about Diablo 4 and its “shared, persistent” world that made you socialize with other players the more I started to think about a game. I couldn’t really remember which other ARPG had the same premise. Well, this PC Gamer article reminded me. Torchlight Frontiers, the successor to the incredibly fun and vibrant Torchlight 2, is doing the same MMOARPG thing as well. I forgot about this game completely mostly because the devs have been silent. No news, no updates, no nothing on the state of the game. Just updates on what new features got added, but nothing regarding the release date. Strange, considering 2019 is the targeted release date for Torchlight Frontiers. Well, it was, now that release date got pushed back.
The game is going through changes that are “hard to explain”
Seems like ExileCon had a lot of cool people roaming around the place. Shame I wasn’t there to see the announcement of Path of Exile 2 and all this other cool stuff. That’s the place where PC Gamer journalist Steven Messner met Max Schaefer, one of the guys that made the original Diablo game. His new team, Echtra Games, are the ones making Torchlight Frontiers. But, they’ve been occupied with certain changes being made. He didn’t specify what exactly was going on. To be precise, he couldn’t describe the changes at all, which worries me. Add on the fact that the release date got pushed back to 2020 and now I’m getting extremely nervous. Should I be anxious about this quirky little pseudo-MMO ARPG? Maybe, maybe not. For now, we have to wait for an official update on the development to see what exactly they’ve been working on that made them push back the 2019 release date.
While you wait for Torchlight Frontiers, why not try the other Torchlight games? The second game, for example, is outstanding. You can buy a Torchlight II PC game key on HRK Game for a crazy low price right now!
