Upcoming Destiny 2 Patch To “Fix” Raiding Rewards

Destiny 2 had the dubious of being one of the most controversial games of 2017. Which kind of offset by the fact that it was the 2nd most bought title of 2017. It’s complicated like that. What was also complicated was the relationship between the game’s developer, Bungie, and the gamers that bought the title. For no matter what Bungie did, they did it wrong in the eyes of the gamers. Now, some of it may not have been justified, but some of it most certainly was.

Mainly, Destiny 2 just didn’t feel like Destiny. It didn’t keep the best elements of the original game (once things worked out and new content had been added), and the changes that were made in the interests of “progress” were total busts. For example, Raids were a big part of the original Destiny. But here, they were boring. In an update on their site, Bungie promised that the upcoming update for the game will hopefully change your perceptions of them:

“We’re making a number of changes to the way Raid rewards work. We’ve been hearing that the current system doesn’t feel exciting when you kill bosses, that tokens aren’t interesting enough, and that you want more deep-chase items to hunt down. This is our first swing at tackling some of those,” said Senior Designer Daniel Auchenpaugh.

Some of these improvements include guaranteed gear for doing encounters, a rotating crop of gear at the Raid Store, Double Drops, and more. And again, this is their first stab at fixing some of the issues they have caused.

Ironically, that’s basically what they’ve been doing these last few months, fixing their own mistakes. Whether it was the backlash of the Curse Of Osiris DLC, the locking of content for certain people, and just bad game choices, Bungie has not had it easy. Hopefully, they turn things around.
