Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden is one of the games that features quite an odd combination of genres that has us interested.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden

Does anyone know what exactly happened in the world of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden that made people turn into ducks. Ducks that could grow wings and fly and also shoot things. It must have been an interesting event. That even is exactly what the players will be unraveling during their playthroughs of this game. Stealthy real-time exploration coupled up with turn-based combat all set in a bizarre world full of mystery. It all makes for one quite special mix.

You can check out the game’s latest video that explains, well, what’s it all about. See, most of the people that are working on this title are ex-Hitman devs. So you can already look forward to setting up ambushes for your enemies, which you encounter in real-time. This is the interesting part. You explore the world normally and find small bits that reveal the secret of this place and how it came to be. Engaging in combat turns the game into a strange XCOM title with ducks instead of aliens. The transition from real-time to turn-based is seamless and quite impressive.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to EdenMutant Year Zero: Road to Eden also has quite an impressive world, and knows how to take advantage of that. For example, there is this one man which you can find in Ark, a place full of shady characters. Now, this seemingly ordinary old man knows quite a lot about this world. And certain things that happened in the past. The strange thing is that he’s the only one with this kind of information. Who is he? Well, the devs didn’t say, but we will learn more about him during some quest or something like that.

We’re excited for this title and all the weirdness that comes with it. Sadly, we don’t see many experimental titles like this anymore. Not frequently at least, and that’s why when it comes out on December 4th we’ll be the first to buy it and see if this experiment was a success or a failure.
