Will The Pokemon Title On Switch Have DLC?

The Nintendo Switch is about to enter its second year of life, and many are wondering what Nintendo is going to do in that second year. Its first year (which is still going on) has been full of 1st party exclusives, some key 3rd party titles, and a slew of indie games that have bolstered that side of the market. But as for its 2nd year, the picture isn’t as clear. One game that many people want to come out this year though is Pokemon.

Fans have wanted a core Pokemon title on Nintendo Switch since launch, and just before E3 2017, a small Nintendo Direct revealed that the Pokemon Company were indeed working on a core title for the system. Aside from that though, we don’t know much about it. However, via a job listing, we may now have a vision of what they’re going to do with its content.

While some of it is the usual fare for a job listing, one line notes that the person would be involving in “DLC data preparing and testing.” Now, to be clear, though it does say that the job is set within the franchise, it doesn’t mean it’s the Nintendo Switch game, however, giving the timing, we do suspect that this is the case.

In fact, this is why this is so surprising, as Pokemon games on console don’t typically have DLC. In fact, the only one to have DLC ever was Pokken Tournament via the character downloads. So what is it going to be in this title?

Well, if this is to be a “core” title in the franchise, then that means that there’s going to be a lot of Pokemon in the game, but, it’s very reasonable to think that the entire roster won’t be in there at launch. So, more than likely, the rest of them would come via DLC.

Or, it could be something entirely different! It’s honestly really hard to say.
