You Won’t Be Able to Buy Overwatch 1 Once Overwatch 2 Launches
You won’t be able to buy Overwatch 1 once Overwatch 2 arrives, which was finally officially confirmed by Blizzard.

Overwatch 2 will fully replace Overwatch 1, which was confirmed by Blizzard themselves. While the dev team never fully spoke about what’s going to happen with the first game once the sequel releases, it’s now obvious that Overwatch 2 fully replaces the original game.
Do you remember back in 2019, when Blizzard said Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2 players would be able to play alongside each other on the same maps? Well, that’s not going to happen, obviously. Since the team is pouring so much effort into the sequel, the first game is getting locked out. The only way to buy Overwatch 1 is via Overwatch 2’s Watchpoint Pack.
We can forget about Overwatch 1 completely, which is quite a shame. Their changes won’t be welcomed by everyone. And locking out new people from playing the first game just seems like a bad move. Especially since they said we could play both way back in 2019. Seems like Blizzard really sucks at keeping their promises to their fanbases. This makes us even more concerned for other upcoming games, like Diablo 4 for example.
