Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA’s PC Port Isn’t Very Good

Fans of the action RPG genre have definitely heard of the Ys franchise, which combines lightning-fast combat, anime graphics, and a great story to create an impressive experience which keeps you occupied for hours. The latest addition to the series is Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA, which launched on Steam yesterday, and after a day later it is already being bombarded by negative reviews, but not because the game is bad or anything, but because the port is absolutely horrible.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA

The Steam users are actually praising the game for it’s thrilling and fast action, the brilliant music, and actual challenging boss fights, which is something that we don’t see anymore in RPG games. But, even though the game itself is amazing, it is painfully obvious that this PS4 title got ported to the PC without much effort. This doesn’t mean that it was easy, it means that whoever ported it didn’t put any effort in it, which is first seen when you notice the performance drops. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA is a pretty game, but it isn’t anything spectacular, yet the game runs as if you’re trying to play a game with the best graphics in the world. Let’s not even start with the constant crashing which happens out of nowhere and for no apparent reason, and there appears to be no way to stop it at all.

Let’s hope that Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA gets patched or fixed soon, as it is a spectacular title, but currently if you want to play it go and buy the PS4 version, as the PC port is just a mess.
