The original Alien film showed what horror can really mean, and ever since, the sci-fi classic has influenced many things over the years. But now, a video game dares to try and recapture the magic of the original film. This is Alien: Isolation. Set fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda is on a mission to find out what really happened to her mother. But the truth is far scarier than she realizes, and she'll come face to face with her mothers' nemesis, the Alien.

To stay alive, you must use your wits and not give into fear. For if you do, the Alien will get you. Look for resources, use whatever you can to survive, and then take out the Alien, if you can. For you see, the true fear of Alien: Isolation is that the Alien uses its senses to hunt you down and respond to your every move. You'll have to be quick on your feat to not only outwit it, but others that come across your path.

For all of this takes place on Sevastopol, a decommissioned trading station on the fringes of space. Encounter a rich cast of inhabitants in a world scarred by fear and mistrust. Use them to help you survive, or leave them be and see if you can survive on your own.

Witness the terror of the Alien movies within a video game for the first true time. Be mindful as you patrol the ship, and listen for anything that doesn't sound human. Try and survive the monster, before your fate mimics the one you have lost.

Alien: Isolation will show you the true meaning of fear. Are you prepared for that?

The game plays, in the parts we've been shown at least, like...

December 21, 2020 Alien: Isolation is free on the Epic Games Store today - which has made us want a sequel even more than we already did... If Creative Assembly is working on an Alien: Isolation 2 it's being as quiet as Newt in an air duct about it. We were hoping that a sequel would be announced not too long ago but our dreams were dashed with the announcement of Alien: Blackout. Sure, it followed Amanda Ripley in a new storyline but, sigh, only on mobile. Still, that doesn't mean Alien: Isolat...

As their Christmas celebration of daily giveaways continues, you have until tomorrow to grab the fine first-person horror game that’s sorta a sequel to the classic film. It’s a good’un, I say despite having given up on it myself because I’m too much of a spacebaby. (more…)

Let's dispense with the usual throat clearing here: Alien: Isolation is far and away the best Alien experience you can find in games. Even with a few frustrating gameplay elements (hello, rubber-banding xenomorph) and a third act that overstays its ...
