Celeste is a platformer with an incredibly emotional story about a young girl that is battling her demons while trying to reach the top of a giant mountain. The game was developed and published by Matt Makes Games Inc. on January 25th, 2018.

Take on over a hundred of brilliantly hand-crafted challenges where you will die many times, but each time you do you learn something that will help you progress more. Look for hidden secrets buried within the game, and try to unravel the mystery of the Celeste Mountain. Players take on the role of Madeline, a young girl with many problems of her own that isn't afraid to take them head on and give it everything she's got. Experience an incredibly moving narrative stretched out over an exciting single-player adventure that features unforgettable characters which you're going to love and a story of self-discovery that will bring tears to your eyes.

Celeste takes you through a mountain that has over 700 screens of intense and sometimes brutal challenges that need a lot of thinking and precision if you want to survive and move past them. If that wasn't enough for you, there's also the Brutal B-side chapters which you can unlock that give you even more insane challenges. Add to this over 2 hours of amazing and original music made out of hypnotizing live piano and vibrant synth beats.

The controls are intuitive and slick, jumping, air-dashing, and climbing are all easy to learn, but there is a depth that you will uncover as you keep playing this amazing platformer that you should purchase today if you haven't played it before.

Support for LGBT+ characters in gaming is on the rise. The case for developing a diverse and well-written cast is now more compelling than ever, as more people of different backgrounds embrace videogaming and play through its narratives. The great John Carmack once compared the medium's storytelling to that of the adult film industry, stating "It's expected to be there, but it's not that important". But as the game industry has evolved, such a perspective is looking increasingly outdated. The ma...

I used to think I was pretty good at platformers, until I played Celeste. Made the creators of Towerfall, Celeste drops you in the shoes of Madeline, whose goal is to climb a mountain. Except, the mountain isn’t really just a mountain – it’s a metaphor for all the difficulties that Madeline, and you, have overcome, and will need to overcome in the future. It’s gruelling and lovely, and you’re missing out on a wonderful experience if you haven’t gotten around to pl...

I’ve not played Minecraft heavily in several years now, so when I logged in recently I was surprised by some new tunes as I walked about pestering livestock. There are even more new tracks coming in the sandbox game’s big Nether Update, this time created by composer Lena Raine whose excellent sounds you may have heard in Celeste. You can check these tunes out now in the newest Minecraft test version snapshot. (more…)

Every time I sit down to write, the first thing I do isn’t open up a blank document, it’s find some nice video game music to listen to. And loads of it can be found free on YouTube. Ambient music from Skyrim, relaxing compilations from Animal Crossing, lo-fi Legend of Zelda remixes Sometimes, work or study just can’t get done without my 10-hour loop of Chrono Trigger’s Corridors Of Time. Looking at the millions of comments, uploads, and views these uploads get, it...
