Corpse Party is a hybrid split between being a point-and-click adventure and a JRPG with a haunting setting and story. The game was developed by Gris Gris and published by XSEED Games, Marvelous USA, Inc. On April 25th, 2016.
You belong to a group of friends that managed to perform a strange occult ritual. While they did this unknowingly, it still sent them into a nightmarish landscape, an eerie elementary school full of vengeful spirits of young children. With your lives and sanity at stake, can you figure out what happened to the poor souls which are trapped here before you meet your grisly demise?
Corpse Party has a distinct 16-bit 2D visual style which takes a break from reality and feeds on your imagination. The images that flow into your mind are far worse than the sprites that you see on your screen, and that's where the strength of this game lies. The brooding and spine-chilling atmosphere in this title only gets more intense as you explore the Heavenly Host Elementary School, which is completely open right from the start. You decide what kind of fate awaits by deciding where you go and what you do.
Five main chapters exist in the game, and they all tell a grim story which features multiple endings and different scenes. Four bonus chapters are also included, one of them being a PC-exclusive, a retelling of the dreaded “Tooth” story from Corpse Party: Book of Shadows. Immerse yourself in this terrifying experience with over 5,000 lines of spoken Japanese dialogue. There's even a fast-forward function which lets players experience all endings rather quickly.
