Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the latest video game in the immensely popular Counter-Strike franchise of multiplayer shooters. The game was developed by both Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve. It is one of the most competitive shooters out there and it has been present on the scene for a while now. Many shooters have come into the competitive esports spotlight, but Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has a stable player base that has remained ever since the game first launched.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive officially released in August 2012 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and OS X. The Linux version of the game came out two years later in September 2014.
The gameplay of this competitive multiplayer shooter is rather simple, you pick between two teams, Terrorists, and Counter-Terrorists, and you try to fulfill your missions. Terrorists will try to do what they've always done, and that is plant bombs and take hostages. Counter-Terrorists have to take down the terrorists and defuse their bombs and save the hostages. The gunplay of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is absolutely phenomenal, and all the combat in the game is focused on a player's skill. There is no RNG factor in the matches, it's all pure reflexes, tactical thinking, and aim. The game features eight different modes for you to try out, each with their set of rules and objectives for you to complete.
Valve is constantly updating the game with new content and various patches and updates, and the game also features an in-game loot system where you can find various skins for your weapons that alter their appearance only and have no effect on the gameplay.
A clip of G2 CS:GO player 'm0NESY' using a smoke grenade exploit in a to mow down players from the opposing team, Imperial, without them seeing him during a PGL Antwerp Major match went viral over the weekend, but thankfully Valve has been quick to patch out the shenanigans. The CS:GO hotfix was released on May 15, and the patch notes simply read "Fixed a recently reported smoke bug." The cause for such a prompt hotfix can be found in a short video clip that shows m0NESY rushing to the mid windo...
Knives are some of CS:GO's hottest cosmetic properties, but like many of the most desired skins in the game they fetch a heavy price tag. Even the cheapest CS:GO knives will set you back a fair amount - but what if there was a way to try out even the most expensive knife types for free? Luckily, CS:GO has a rather expansive custom games system which allows you to birth game modes so wildly different from the main game, like CS:GO surf - so trying out a few knives isn't that hard to figure out. U...
Introduced in the 2013 Arms Deal update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, skins in CS:GO have easily become one of the hottest commodities in all of gaming - and with a price tag to prove it. Unlike most other in-game cosmetic systems though, Valve has opted for a community-controlled ecosystem where the players themselves set the prices. This has led to a lot of good opportunities for players to snag some comparatively well priced items, for example, a couple of the cheapest CS:GO knives th...
