Rust is a survival video game that puts a huge emphasis on staying alive as you start out with only a rock. Tame nature and bring it to its knees or fail and die in the wilderness. The game was developed and published by Facepunch Studios in February 2018 for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and OS X.
Rust started of things as a simple yet addicting clone of DayZ, but over its time in Early Access, it upgraded to a new engine, went in a completely new direction gameplaywise, and became one of the best and most challenging survival games on the market.
The wilderness is your first enemy in Rust, and players get thrown into a procedurally generated world in which they have to fight against hunger, thirst, various diseases, and all kinds of vicious wild animals that are looking for something to feast on. But, the greatest danger in this multiplayer survival title comes from other players, which can and will hunt you down for your resources, gear, or just for the thrill of it. Staying alive in this game is an immense challenge, and only players with impressive skills and incredible drive will manage to stop being the pray and become the hunter.
Things start slowly, with bows and basic weapons being available to you. Once you've managed to fight off bears and wolves and find some resources, firearms will soon be accessible to you. There are all kinds of crafting options in Rust, and players always have to make sure that they have the required equipment before going out to explore or attack other players.
Even though surviving alone is difficult, you can always build yourself a stronghold or a base. If you don't like the lone wolf approach, find yourself a clan. Survival chances are increased when you're in a group, but keep in mind that clan-based combat is present in the game. Raids happen all the time as the need to be the most powerful clan in the game increases. Thrilling and intense PvP means that you're never 100% safe no matter what stage of the game you're at.
Impeccable survival mechanics, brutal PvP, complex crafting and base building make Rust one of the most challenging and gripping survival video games out there.
