The White Laboratory is a tower defense RTS game that is centered around creating and commanding complex robotic structures. This title was developed by Laboratory Systems and published by Laboratory Systems, Gamera Game on March 29th, 2019.
During a series of engaging missions, the player has to combine robotic modular geometry components in order to create advanced structures, all with their own role to use in tricky combat situations. Ground defenses need to be built, air probes need to be sent, scrap resources can be attracted and transferred. The game's physics engine gives the players a lot of freedom to play around with these components.
The entirety of The White Laboratory is physically simulated. Objects move and behave in response to the complex physics system. Bullets will bounce off non-targets, obstacles will be a physical hindrance to enemies that are rushing in. Since ground defense towers can't be upgraded, players need to modify them to suit their combat situation.
Three game modes are available in-game. Experiment mode is the campaign of the game that offers a lot of different kinds of gameplay that includes combining robotic components, using expansionary defenses, the conquest of the opposition, production, and things like that. Sandbox mode is made for building and testing, best suited for players that want to create complex structures. Survival mode is the basic form of fortress defense mixed in with many of the game's other mechanics.
