CD Projekt decided to officially add some Cyberpunk 2077 modders to their team so they can work on the game’s modding tools.
If you’re not familiar with these guys, then you probably didn’t mod The Witcher 3 much. They’re the ones behind the Wolvenkit. That’s a project that lets players use a unified modding toolset for all RED Engine games, those being the Witcher 3 and now Cyberpunk 2077.
Furthermore, people on Reddit already think this is a Bethesda situation. By that I mean they think CDPR’s going to give a ton of modding tools to the community so they can fix the game themselves. That’s factually incorrect as the modding support for Cyberpunk is still a long way from giving players the kind of power needed to fully fix the game.
But, we can finally expect better modding support for CDOR’s tragic RPG in the near future. When will these Cyberpunk 2077 modders deliver these modding tools? We’re not sure, as information regarding this whole ordeal is scarce. To be clear, CDPR isn’t paying them for their work on the Wolvenkit. They’re working on multiple projects and all of them are centered around the game’s backend and modding support.
